If you’ve ever dreamed about a wedding that feels more like a full weekend experience than a single day, camp venues are where it’s at. Think bonfires, cabins, lake swims, late night hangs with your favorite people, and zero pressure to rush through the best weekend of your life. Wisconsin honestly has some of the best camp style wedding venues out there, and each one brings its own personality to the table.

Here’s a fun roundup of some of the coolest camp wedding venues in Wisconsin (plus a few you might not have heard of yet).

The Old Fashioned Photo Bus fits in well with a camp vibe wedding and if you're looking to have your wedding at one of these venues we would absolutely love if you had us coming along for the big day!

Our Favorites:

Camp Elsewhere (Waupaca, WI)

Let’s start strong because this one is basically the definition of a wedding weekend destination. It also has a special place in our Old Fashioned Photo Bus hearts; we end up here at least once every season, and it never disappoints.

Tucked into the woods near the lakes around Waupaca, Camp Elsewhere blends rustic camp vibes with just enough polish. You’ve got cabins, glamping tents, and a renovated reception space, so you’re not totally roughing it. It can host 150+ guests with around 75 staying overnight, which makes it perfect for a full weekend with your crew.

This is the kind of place where your wedding turns into a mini vacation. Slow mornings, lake time, late nights by the fire it just flows.

Camp Wandawega (Elkhorn, WI)

Tucked away in the woods of southern Wisconsin, Camp Wandawega feels like stepping into a perfectly preserved slice of nostalgic Americana. Originally established in the 1920s, this historic lakeside retreat has evolved into a one-of-a-kind destination known for its vintage charm, thoughtfully curated spaces, and effortlessly cool aesthetic.

Every corner of Camp Wandawega tells a story. From its collection of heirloom décor and old-world textiles to its mix of rustic and eclectic design, the camp has become a favorite backdrop for photographers, creatives, and couples looking for something far from traditional. It offers a laid-back, immersive experience where guests can unplug, gather around bonfires, and fully soak in the beauty of nature.

For weddings, Camp Wandawega provides a truly unique setting that blends summer camp nostalgia with elevated, editorial-worthy details. If you’re considering hosting your wedding here, it’s important to note that Camp Wandawega operates differently from a traditional venue. Couples will need to reach out to the camp directly to inquire about availability, pricing, and what’s included in their wedding offerings. According to their website, weddings require a full property rental, giving you and your guests exclusive access to the entire grounds for a completely private, immersive experience.

Camp Kettlewood is one of those hidden gems people are just starting to discover.

This restored 1940s scout camp lets you stay in vintage cabins, canvas tents, or retro trailers, each tucked into its own little pocket of woods. It’s quiet, cozy, and feels like you’ve got your own slice of Wisconsin all weekend long.

Perfect for couples who want something intimate, a little off the radar, and super relaxed.

Camp Dewan (Lake Geneva)

Camp Dewan brings that classic Northwoods feel with a slightly more traditional camp setup. Think woods, cabins, and a laid-back atmosphere that keeps the focus on nature and the experience.

Located near Lake Geneva, the ceremony spot overlooking Lake Cleo is honestly stunning. You can host up to 150 guests, and the property gives you tons of flexibility such as lakeside ceremonies to tented receptions.

Plus, your guests get access to all the fun stuff: kayaking, volleyball, hiking trails, and more. It’s the kind of place where people actually hang out instead of just showing up and leaving.

Camps That Feel Like Resorts:

Kamp Kenwood (Chippewa, Falls)

Up in Chippewa Falls, Kamp Kenwood leans a little more polished while still keeping that camp feel. Northern Wisconsin scenery here is unreal, especially in summer and fall.

Camp Moon Beach (St Germain, WI)

Located in St. Germain, this one sits right on the water and gives you those classic “Up North” views. It’s peaceful, scenic, and perfect for a nature-filled wedding weekend.

Feels Like a Camp Vibe:

Glacier Hills is perfect if you want that camp-style wedding feel and the option to turn it into a full weekend experience. You and your guests can stay onsite in nine rustic cabins or the Ranger House, all bookable individually or as part of a weekend block.

The main reception space, Glacier Hills Hall, is a renovated 4,000-square-foot venue that can host up to 200 guests, with outdoor space right outside that’s ideal for ceremonies, cocktail hour, or a tented reception.

For ceremonies, you’ve got a mix of indoor and outdoor options, including the historic Little Flower Mission Chapel, which seats up to 160 and brings a cozy, romantic, and slightly nostalgic feel to your day.

Camp Meets Cabin Luxury

Stout's Island Lodge (Birchwood, WI)

For couples who love the idea of camp but still want a little luxury, this one’s pretty unreal. It’s set on a private island near Shell Lake, with guests staying onsite and water views everywhere you look.

It still feels intimate and outdoorsy, just a little more elevated. (And yes, we’re still figuring out how to get the photo bus there someday.)

More Unique Camp Style Options

Camp Jorn YMCA (Manitowish Waters, WI)

A Northwoods favorite in Manitowish Waters, Camp Jorn has that classic summer camp nostalgia with cabins, lake access, and tons of space for activities.

Located in Woodruff, this one’s a little different but super fun. Think cabins, RV sites, and a relaxed lakefront vibe that works really well for casual weddings.

Why Camp Weddings Are Having a Moment

Camp weddings are not just about the aesthetic. They are about the experience. Instead of a six hour event, you get a full weekend with your favorite people. Guests can stay onsite, hang out longer, and actually feel part of your wedding instead of just attending it.

Plus you get built in activities like kayaking, bonfires, hiking, and late night storytelling under the stars, which is honestly hard to beat.

Final Thoughts

If you’re planning a wedding in Wisconsin and want something that feels personal, laid-back, and genuinely fun, a camp venue might be exactly what you’re looking for. It’s less about perfection and more about the experience, and honestly, that’s what makes these weddings so unforgettable.

And if you’re leaning into that camp vibe, The Old Fashioned Photo Bus fits right in. We’d love to tag along for the weekend.
